The Population Argument – on the political misuse of the spectre of overpopulation

The Amsterdam Centre for European Studies (ACES) is organising a book presentation with Dana Schmalz on Thursday 8 May. Dana published a book last year titled ‘The Population Argument‘ about the dark sides and fallacies of population arguments in political discourse. One example being how politicians employ the “population argument” for their own personal gain: only ever finding excess growth somewhere else, in the Global South or in marginalized communities. 

Christina Eckes will be speaking with Dana and discussing the population argument and how it is intertwined with the climate crisis.
