ACES Summer School

Deepening Environmental and Social Justice

Between Monday 29 June until Thursday 2 July, the LitDem team hosted the Amsterdam Centre for European Studies’ (ACES) summer school. With a rich and varied group of participants, we discussed the environmental and social justice implications of climate litigation and the questions arising from there.

The summer school was co-led and taught by invited external speakers and researchers working on climate an justice matters at ACES and the LitDem team based at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance.

We kicked the week off with a key note by Orla Kelleher, who is assistant-professor at the University of Maynooth, specializing in environmental, climate and human rights law. Following that the week comprised substantive and interactive lectures – as well as a boat trip on the canals, vegan dinner and a visit to the Wereld Museum. It ended well with a group-work discovery session and presentations.
