Climate Justice on Trial

The Amsterdam Law Forum is hosting a panel discussion on “Climate Justice on Trial”  featuring top experts in law and social sciences on 7 May 2025 from 14:00.

Alberto Nicotina is one of the experts and will be discussing the state of climate litigation against corporations in Europe. Alberto is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in European law at the University of Amsterdam and part of the Strategic Climate Litigation project team. He specialises in EU law and EU climate litigation.

Other speakers include Berber Brouwer – an attorney at law at Walden Grene. She works with Reclame Fossielvrij and will focus her talk on a recent and notable case: the preliminary injunction brought by the Dutch travel industry against the fossil fuel advertising ban in The Hague.

In addition, Professor Cynthia A. Williams will be speaking about climate litigation cases in the U.S. She is the Roscoe C. O’Byrne Chair in Law, Indiana University, Maurer School of Law, and is also a Professor of U.S. Corporate and Securities law at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam.
