Milieudefensie has summoned the bank ING with a demand to halve its greenhouse gas emissions, including direct and indirect emissions such as the oil and gas companies that are financed by ING.

Christina is quoted saying she thinks it is understandable that Milieudefensie is asking the court to prohibit ING from financing companies that drill new oil and gas fields. ‘In the lawsuit of Milieudefensie against Shell, the judge said that drilling new oil and gas fields can be a problem. And the leading International Energy Agency (IEA) already stated in 2021 that investments in new projects for the extraction of fossil fuels must come to an end.’
