The Legal Standing of Associations in Climate Litigation

On 29 September, Dr. Alberto Nicotina, postdoctoral researcher within our ERC-funded project on Strategic Climate Litigation, was invited by the Department of Legal Theory at Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic) to deliver a guest lecture on “The Legal Standing of Associations in Climate Litigation”.

The lecture was part of the Legal Theory Workshop series at MUNI Law. Starting from an analysis of the KlimaSeniorinnen judgment, Alberto presented his ongoing research aiming to construct a theory of subsidiary social spheres. This theoretical framework provides a more solid basis for recognising the constitutional role of civil society organisations in and beyond the climate crisis.
